Ukrainian steel pipe and railway wheel producer Interpipe has announced
that a new ring heating furnace has been commissioned at Interpipe Niko Tube to
heat steel billets before rolling. The new furnace will enable high production
capacity, energy efficiency, and reduction in metal consumption. The production
capacity of the new furnace will be 325,000 tons of billets per year, 50% more
than that of the old furnace.
Through this $20 million investment Interpipe continues to modernize its
production facilities and enhance energy efficiency and productivity at its
operations despite the current economic climate.
According to Interpipe's statement, all the pipe products made at the
tube-rolling shop No. 2 within the diameter range of 159-325 mm will go through
the new ring furnace. Casing and line pipes produced at the tube-rolling shop
No. 2 are marketed in 20 countries around the world, including Austria, Italy,
Spain, Saudi Arabia and the US. (SteelOrbis/Ukrainian metal)
