Mr. Zinchenko appointed new GD of Mariupol Ilyich Iron and Steel Works

Metinvest announced the appointment of Mr. Yuriy Zinchenko as general director of Mariupol Ilyich Iron and Steel Works (Ilyich Steel).

He will replace Mr. Volodymyr Boyko, who was named the honorary president of Ilyich Steel.

Metinvest’s supervisory board voted on November 21, 2012 to relieve Mr. Volodymyr Boyko of his responsibilities as Ilyich Steel general director and CJSC Ilyich-Stal’s chairman of the board in connection with his election to the Parliament of Ukraine. The board named Mr. Yuriy Zinchenko as Boyko’s successor in both capacities and Mr. Boyko the honorary president of Ilyich Steel; both of these appointments are effective starting November 22, 2012.

Mr. Yuiriy Zinchenko has over 20 years of experience in the metallurgic industry. As general director of Metinvest’s Khartsyzsk Pipe Works he proved an effective manager and competent in manufacturing metals and pipes. Under his direction Khartsyzsk Pipe Works has become a leader within Metinvest Group in the “Lean Program” adoption at Metinvest’s enterprises. The plant’s operational performance has also been notable; its output in 2011 was the highest in the last twenty years.

Mr. Pavlo Uzbek was named acting director of Khartsyzk Pipe Works; previously he was the plant’s first deputy general director and chief financial officer. (Metinvest)

Khartsyzsk Pipe Works decreased production by 32% MoM

Khartsyzsk Pipe Works decreased its large diameter pipe output by 32% MoM in May to 37 kilo tons. However, during 5 months the plant demonstrated a 159% YoY improvement in operating results due to the low comparison base having manufactured 247 kilo tons of pipes.
Phoenix Capital analyst said “May marks the first month this year in which Khartsyzsk Pipe Works retreated from its normal capacity load. This decline can be explained by technical reasons, such as contracted production deferred to later periods. At the same time we can’t exclude the temporary exhaustion of orders most of which come from the Russian company Transneft.” (Phoenix Capital)

Ukraine pipe production in November up by 18% MoM

It is reported that the Ukrainian pipe making industry has demonstrated a 17.7% MoM growth rate in November driven by Khartzyzsk and Lugansk Tube Plant performance improvements.
Khartsyzsk Pipe Works performance has skyrocketed by 38.2% MoM, decreasing the gap between prior year 11 month results to 50%.
According to a Millennium Capital analyst, “The news is positive for pipes. Khartsyzsk Pipe Works’ 25.0% MoM rise in output has returned the plant to growth in contrast to the slump of the previous month, spurred on by the rising Russian demand for LDP’s. Interpipe plants maintained the previous month’s production levels.” (Millennium Capital)

Ukraine pipe production in mid October down by 10% MoM

It is reported that in October the Ukrainian pipe making industry demonstrated a 9.6% MoM decline rate. The underperformers were Khartszysk Pipe Works, Lugansk Tube Plant and Interpipe Niko-Tube with 25.0%, 13.6% and 36% MoM drop in output respectively.
According to a Millennium Capital analyst “The news is neutral for pipes. Unexpectedly, this month Khartszysk Pipe Works has demonstrated a 25.0% MoM decline in output after a consecutive double digit growth in the previous three months. Despite the negative effect of the October temporary downturn, the works should display further growth to catch up with recent contracts with Russian Transneft. Interpipe plants on the average maintained the previous month’s production levels”. (Millennium Capital)

Azovstal. The decrease in the amount of crude steel produced in October was due to off-schedule repairing works on the open-hearth furnace No.8.
Yenakievo Iron and Steel Works. The decrease in the amount of crude steel produced in October was due to a number of planned overhauls performed in October on the major metallurgical units
Khartsyzsk Pipe Works. The reduced average weight of the LD pipes manufactured resulted in the decreased total tonnage:
- in September the pipes were produced of 1067 mm and 1220 mm in diameter. The amount of pipes manufactured totaled 10,136 pieces;
- in October the pipes were produced of 530, 630, 720, 820, 1020 and 1220 mm in diameter. The amount of pipes manufactured totaled 10,119. (SteelGuru)

Ukraine pipe production in September grows by 13% MoM

It is reported that in September the Ukrainian pipe making industry demonstrated a 12.7% growth rate. For the third month in a row, KhPW is demonstrating double digit pipe output growth, this time with a 52.2% MoM growth, nevertheless trailing last year January to September performance by 59.7% YoY.
Interpipe NVTR production has doubled decline rate to 10.2% MoM, while NITR has grown 7.7% MoM. The rest of the industry has shown a 6.9% MoM increase in their output.
According to a Millennium Capital analyst “The news is positive for pipes. The growth leader KhPW once again doubled the production, this time on the back of the contract with Russian Transneftegaz. However, KhPW still remains largely underutilized, with a 59.7% decrease in the nine-month output as compared to the 2009 results. Interpipe’s NVTR and NITR maintained status quo without new major orders.” (Millennium Capital)
