March 2014 witnessed ferroalloys output decrease

In March companies decreased ferroalloys output by 3.1%, or 2.8 thousand tons, to 87.2 thousand tons MoM.

Ukrainian ferroalloy output down by 22.4% in January-September 2013

In January-September Ukraine's ferroalloy production decreased by 22.4% compared to the same period last year to 623,500 tons, according to the Association of Ukrainian Ferroalloy Producers (UkrFA).

Ukrainian ferroalloy output increases by 41% in 11 months

According to the Association of Ukrainian Ferroalloy Producers, in January to November Ukraine's ferroalloys production increased by 41.2% YoY to 1.31 million tons.

During 11 months Ukraine’s silicomanganese output increased by 29% to 861,100 tons, its ferromanganese production went up 2.3 times to 258,600 tons, its ferrosilicon output increased by 32% to 176,700 tons and its metallic manganese production increased by 3% to 14,000 tons.
Specifically, in January to November the largest Ukrainian ferroalloy producer Nikopol Ferroalloy Plant increased its ferroalloy output by 42% YoY to 842,000 tons, including 647,300 tons of silicomanganese and 194,700 tons of ferromanganese.

Meanwhile, during the period in question, Ukrainian ferroalloy producer Zaporozhye Ferro Alloys Plant increased its ferroalloy output by 35.6% YoY to 268,300 tons, including 137,600 tons of silicomanganese, 63,900 tons of ferromanganese, 52,800 tons of ferrosilicon and 14,000 tons of metallic manganese.
In addition, another major Ukrainian ferroalloy producer - Stakhanov Ferroalloy Plant - increased its January to November ferroalloy output by 45.5% YoY to 200,100 tons, including 123,900 tons of ferrosilicon and 76,200 tons of silicomanganese. (SteelOrbis)

Ukraine ferroalloy plants ask US DOC to revise antidumping duty

Ukrainian ferroalloy plants have asked the US Department of Commerce to revise the 163% antidumping duty on import of ferromanganese silicon from Ukraine.
According to a report of the UkrFA, Ukrainian association of ferroalloy producers, and other electrometallurgical products, along with the association, Nikopol, Stakhanov and Zaporozhye ferroalloy plants signed the address. (Ukrainian Journal)

Ukrainian ferroalloys industry sees signs of recovery

According to the Association of Ukrainian Ferroalloy Producers, Ukraine ferroalloy industry has started to see signs of recovery as in August after a sustained period of decline, the world ferroalloys market has registered its first signs of improvement, with average prices in Europe unexpectedly rising by more than EUR 100 per tonne from July level to EUR 880 per tonne to EUR 890 per tonne.

The UkrFA notes that Ukrainian ferroalloys producers have hardly any metal inventories in their warehouses and despite working at maximum allowable capacity are unable to keep up with all orders. According to the UkrFA one Ukrainian ferroalloy producer, the name of which has not been disclosed has a full order book for September and will sell silicomanganese for EUR 850 per tonne in October and will probably use that price as the benchmark for the whole fourth quarter.

According to data issued for the first seven months of 2009, Ukraine registered a decrease of 58% YoY in its ferroalloys production to 436,800 tonnes.

In January to July 2009, Ukraine silicomanganese output decreased by 52.5% YoY to 313,400 tonnes, its ferromanganese production went down by 82.8% YoY to 47,800 tonne, its ferrosilicon output dropped by 30% YoY to 67,800 tonnes while its metallic manganese production increased by 85.7% YoY to 7,200 tonne all compared to the same period of last year.
