Ukrainian metal companies to decrease steel output in February 2014

In February 2014 Ukrainian metal companies plan to decrease steel smelting by 7.8% from expected output for January (2.7 million tons), to 2.49 million tons.

Rolled metal production would decrease by 3.8% from the expected December 2013 levels (2.32 million tons), to 2.23 million tons.

Pig iron manufacture is expected to decrease in February to 6.8%, from 2.5 million tons to 2.33 million tons.

To achieve these volumes metal companies would require 590 thousand tons of sinter ore, 1.6 million tons of concentrate, 450 thousand tons of sinter, 630 thousand tons of pellets, 820 thousand tons of limestone, 1.11 million tons of metallurgical coke and 360 thousand tons of scrap metal.
