Ukraine’s pig iron output in January almost unchanged from December 2010 level

According to the Ukrainian association of metal producers Metallurgprom, in January Ukraine's average daily pig iron output was almost unchanged from the December 2010 level, seeing a very slight increase from 77,600 tons to 77,800 tons.

In the first seven days of February the country average daily pig iron output registered a slight decrease to 77,500 tons.
According to the Metallurgprom data, as of February 1 five of Ukraine’s 36 operating blast furnaces were idle, while 3 of the country 21 converters, 17 of its 35 open-hearth furnaces and 8 of its 15 electric furnaces also continued to stand idle. (SteelOrbis)
